November Activities and Beyond

The third of  the six Legacy and Legends Series will be presented to members on November 1st .  It  will feature former employee and long-time collector of Homer Laughlin China Company ware, David Conley.   Homer Laughlin continues to be one of our area’s major employers.  It has brought worldwide recognition to us as the epicenter of the pottery industry over the years that produces the finest and the most popular chinaware in the world with its Fiesta Ware.  (for Series Members only)

On Sunday November 20th, the Trinity Church will offer the community an opportunity to learn and be entertained by Dr. Calvin Taylor.  Dr. Taylor is a composer,  internationally recognized musician and performer on both the piano and organ.  Dr. Taylor studied at several schools of music including Oberlin Conservancy, University of Michigan and U.C.L.A.

Western Pennsylvania artist Lora Russell will provide instruction in painting for youth.  There will be one lesson offered for teens and with a second class for pre-teens.  Lora says that she would even prefer teaching art to others than to doing it.

Piano lessons for youth would be provided by volunteers making use of numerous pianos around the Center.  This could result in the discovery of latent talent plus and enjoyment.

Ping Pong competition and instruction in table tennis by some old pros helping the youth at the Center develop an interest and skills in the competitive sport of table tennis.  There are presently two tables in the Teen Zone area.  There is also a pool table there.

The Red Slipper Ladies will be rehearsing as they prepare for performances at area parades. They will use the Auditorium at the Center for their practices.  They rehearse on Tuesday afternoons as they practice up for upcoming parade appearances.

A new area Youth Choir is to be organized to showcase the vocal talents of our young people.   They will use the Auditorium for rehearsals.  Applications are being taken.   with Amy Hissom of East Liverpool Has Talent fame is the leader.

Return of the Easter Pageant at the Center’s outdoor venue presented by members of area churches under leadership of members of the Trinity Church during the Easter.

Three additional Legacy & Legends Series events are planned for March, April & May, 2017 – Hans Hacker, Cinemas & Yellow Creek Massacre.  (for Series Members only)
