Blair Auditorium & Theatre
The Theatre/Auditorium has a seating capacity of 400 to 500 people for theatre style seating. There are two podiums at the front of the sanctuary placed on a stage with a sound system for large crowds. There is a pipe organ, a baby grand piano at floor level and also a piano for accompaniment in the choir loft for musical activities. There presently is a small screen and projector for showing visuals in connection with program presentations. The room was recently air conditioned and the heating system has been revamped for greater comfort. There is ambient light from the 20 ground to ceiling windows, 10 on each side.
At the entrance to the auditorium is a reception area that is frequently used to serve refreshments prior to or at intermission of performances. The restrooms are convenient and handicapped accessible. There is a high ceiling in the auditorium that is very impressive as you would expect from a former church sanctuary. This room has been used for musical events, weddings, a book signing event presented by a local church whose own facilities were too limited to meet the need.
The Auditorium offers an alternative to outdoor events that could serve as an alternative to weather problems and hot and humid temperatures. The venue is very accessible from the parking lot with a few steps to the front door and a ramp for wheel chair access.
The auditorium would be suitable for musical and choir shows, lectures, political rallies, Baccalaureate and graduation ceremonies, movie shows, seminars, training programs, concerts, various community wide church events requiring much seating, lecture series programs, political gatherings, new business presentations to the community, governmental programs to the community regarding presentations of general interest, musical presentations of area or college traveling choirs, and much more.
The rental rate for the Theatre/Auditorium is $75 for the first hour and $50 for each additional hour. Reserving the Dining Hall requires an advance Facilities Request Application Contract to be signed and a deposit to reserve the room. The $50 deposit is refundable if the event is cancelled with notification to the Center 7 days in advance and if the venue has been restored to its former condition following the event.
